ASRY Receives Healthy Cities Program Delegation

The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) hosted a delegation from the Healthy Cities Program, led by Brigadier Jassim bin Mohammed Al Ghatam, Deputy Governor of Muharraq Governorate. The group included officials from Muharraq Governorate, representatives from the Bahraini Ministry of Health, and members of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The visit focused on reviewing ASRY’s environmental sustainability measures and how its green initiatives align with the governorate’s efforts to meet the program’s standards and secure Muharraq’s designation as a Healthy City.

During discussions, ASRY’s Head of Technical Portfolio Development, Engineer Omar Al Enezi, outlined the company’s environmental projects and sustainable practices introduced over the past year. He detailed how ASRY’s work supports national sustainability goals and contributes to responsible industrial operations.

Brigadier Jassim Mohammed Al Ghatam noted that ASRY’s environmental approach strengthens the governorate’s efforts to fulfil the program’s objectives. He added that such initiatives reinforce Bahrain’s adherence to international environmental standards.

At the conclusion of the visit, WHO’s Regional Adviser for Health Promotion and Social Determinants of Health, Dr Samar Al Feqi, acknowledged ASRY’s efforts in supporting public health and sustainability. She stressed the importance of continued collaboration between the public and private sectors to advance environmental conservation and improve health outcomes in Muharraq Governorate.
